Usually, I’m a strictly no-Christmas-before-Thanksgiving kind of girl. But this year, I made a little exception. My cousin Jemma, and her new fiancé, Garry, are visiting Cincinnati from Liverpool, England. In the past, Jemma has typically visited us in the summertime, so my family was really excited to share what our city has to offer during the winter months. One of our favorite things to do? Take in the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.
We are so lucky to have our Zoo. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden has been rated by peer zoological parks as one of the best zoos in the nation. It’s easy to see why. I love to show off our Zoo whenever I have visitors.
The Festival of Lights is an incredible event – it immediately gets me into the spirit of the season. Everything is so festive: the spectacular Christmas tree where all of Cincinnati gets their holiday family photos taken, the lights...the hot chocolate (there are little hot chocolate stands throughout the Zoo, and there’s nothing like taking in the lights with some warm cocoa. A little tip: ask for some holiday cheer in your cup, and they’ll add a shot of Bailey’s! Yum.)
If you’re getting into the spirit of the season, add the Festival of Lights to your plans. It’s a can’t-miss holiday event in Cincinnati.
Until next time,
