Photo Diary: Savannah & Hilton Head Island

What better way to celebrate 4 years of marriage (and 10 years together) than a relaxing trip to the beach?

Ryan and I headed down to Savannah and Hilton Head Island to celebrate our anniversary last weekend. This was Ryan's first visit to Hilton Head, but I have fond memories of family spring break trips to the beach as a kid, riding bikes on the bike trails and building sand castles on the beach. I was so excited to create new memories there with Ryan.

We spent Thursday night and Friday morning in Savannah, where we stayed at the Springhill Suites by Marriott in the Historical District. It was a nice hotel and convenient to everything we wanted to see, located right across the street from SCAD. On Friday morning, we looked for a great breakfast spot to start the day, and discovered at B. Matthew's, located about a mile from our hotel. It was aaaahmazing – I will dream of the Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict for the rest of my life!

Then we hit the road for Hilton Head Island. This was our first Airbnb experience, and we rented a cute little condo near Coligny Plaza for the weekend, right on the beach. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't ideal while we were there, but we spent as much time as we could at the beach. We also had ample opportunity to check out the local food scene – and there's nothing we love more than fresh seafood and creamy ice cream. Our favorite meal was at Skull Creek Boathouse, where we enjoyed a traditional low country boil right by the water. Don't miss it when you're on the island!

People often think of Hilton Head as a family destination, but we can't recommend it enough for a romantic getaway, too. We can't wait to go back soon!

Until next time,

LL
